Atomic processes on Ice Surfaces in Interstellar Molecular Clouds

Theoretical calculations are carried out to study the formation of H2 and H2O on ice surfaces, crystalline and amorphous at low temperature characteristic of interstellar dust particles. Both density functional theory calculations as well as calculations with an empirical potential function were carried out to evaluate the adsorption energy and rate of diffusion of H-atoms and O-atoms on the ice surfaces.
