Yinyang: The Way of Ways
Oddi 101 - Friday april 25th - 12:00-13:30
The concept of yinyang has lied at the heart of Chinese thought and culture for thousands of years. The talk, based on Dr. Wang’s book Yinyang: The Way of Heaven and Earth in Chinese Thought and Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2012) will give a more nuanced, synchronic account of the richness and meanings of yinyang, and its applications to gender dynamic, culinary arts, and other essential aspects of life.
Dr. Robin R. Wang is Daum Professor in the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts, Professor of Philosophy, and Director of Asian Pacific Studies at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, USA. She has published many articles and essays, has also been a consultant for numerous outlets, and was a credited Cultural Consultant for the movie Karate Kid, 2010. This event is in connection with the Transphilosophies symposium, held April 23rd at the University Center 101 from 14:00-17:00.
