The Nordic countries are known for their familypolicy where the parental leavesystemsare major parts.Thiscoursewith lectures andseminar willguidetheparticipantsthroughthe variouswaysof studyingparentalleave.ThecoursewilltakeitsstartintheSwedishsystem butalsofocuson howto comparebetweensystems,inparticulartheonesintheNordic countries.ProfessorAnn-Zofie Duvanderwillalsodiscussuseofregisterdata,its advantages, itsproblemsandpossibilities. Shewill startbygivinganoverviewofthe Swedish parental leave,itsdevelopment,itsuse,itsconsequences andtheSwedishdebate onparental leave. Shewillthereafterdiscussmethodsforhowtocompare parentalleave systems,whatthe problems,concernsandpotentialadvantagesare.Shewillgive examplesfromresearch projectwhereallthe Nordiccountrieshavebeeninvolved.Allare welcometo lectures but pleasenotethattheseminarwillbeaimedforPhDstudentsand familypolicyexperts.

Herresearchinterestsincludefamilypolicyaswellasthefamilyandworkconnection.She is anexpert onparentalleavepoliciesinSweden,withaspecialfocusonleavetakenby fathers.Inadditionto studiesofparentalleaveuseanditsdemographicandeconomicoutcomes,shehasbeen involvedin comparativeNordicandinternationalstudies.
