David Lidington, Evrópumálaráðherra Bretlands, verður framsögumaður á opnum umræðufundi í Hátíðasal Háskóla Íslands, fimmtudaginn 20. júní nk. kl. 12.00–13.15. Erindi Lidingtons ber titilinn „The UK and Europe – our road ahead“.
Í framhaldi af erindi ráðherrans munu fara fram pallborðsumræður.
Þátttakendur í pallborði, auk Lidingtons, verða: Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, lektor í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands, Sigrún Davíðsdóttir, fréttamaður á RÚV, og Svana Helen Björnsdóttir, formaður Samtaka iðnaðarins. Umræðustjórn verður
í höndum Ólafs Þ. Stephensen, ritstjóra Fréttablaðsins. Fundurinn er haldinn á vegum Háskóla Íslands og breska sendiráðsins á Íslandi og fer fram á ensku.
David Lidington hefur setið á breska þinginu fyrir Íhaldsflokkinn frá árinu 1992 en hann tók við embætti Evrópumálaráðherra í maí 2010.
The UK and Europe – our road ahead
The Minister for Europe in the UK Government, David Lidington, will be the keynote speaker at an open symposium at the
University of Iceland on Thursday 20 June, from 12 to 1:15 pm. His speech is titled “The UK and Europe – our road ahead”.
A panel discussion will follow the minister‘s speech. The members of the panel are, in addition to Mr. Lidington: Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, lecturer in history at the University of Iceland; Sigrún Davíðsdóttir, reporter at Icelandic public broadcaster RÚV; and Svana Helen Björnsdóttir, chairman of the Icelandic Federation of Industry. The dicussion will be moderated by Ólafur Þ. Stephensen, editor of Fréttablaðið. The meeting is hosted jointly by the University of Iceland and the British Embassy. It takes place in English.
David Lidington has been a Member of the House of Commons for the Conservative Party since 1992. He was appointed Minister for Europe in May 2010.
